About Majed Althonayan

I am a cybersecurity professional with a recent MSc in Computing (Security and Reliability) from Imperial College London. My academic journey, along with a First-Class Honours Degree in Computer Science from Royal Holloway, University of London, has provided me with extensive expertise in cybersecurity, secure software development, and system reliability. My passion lies in designing secure systems and mitigating risks in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. As part of my Master’s programme, I conducted a thesis on tackling maximal extractable value (MEV) on Ethereum decentralised exchanges. This research developed a solution for searchers to blindly backrun private user transactions, addressing existing shortcomings in current systems. By leveraging Fully Homomorphic Encryption, I created a privacy-preserving mechanism that allows searchers to extract value from user transactions without compromising their own or the user’s privacy. This work provided a more secure alternative to previous methods and demonstrated the practical usability of FHE in decentralised finance (DeFi), highlighting its potential to enhance security within DeFi ecosystems. My technical skill set includes proficiency in a plethora of langauges, alongside strong command of security tools such as Wireshark, Metasploit, and Kali Linux for penetration testing and threat analysis. I have a deep understanding of cryptographic techniques like RSA, AES, and SHA, and am experienced in implementing secure protocols such as SSL/TLS and VPNs. My hands-on experience extends to vulnerability assessment and risk mitigation, where I have identified critical vulnerabilities in enterprise systems, conducted penetration tests, and applied defensive measures to tackle incidents. I am deeply passionate about cybersecurity and committed to staying at the forefront of the field. I continually seek to expand my knowledge, particularly in areas such as threat detection, secure system design, and risk management. My enthusiasm for this field drives me to approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset, always focused on delivering innovative solutions that strengthen security measures.
