About Majid Farhadloo
As a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, I am passionate about developing efficient and explainable techniques for knowledge discovery and data mining. My research focuses on spatial data science, which applies artificial intelligence (AI) methods to analyze spatial patterns and relationships in various domains. Currently, I am working on a project that uses spatially explainable AI approaches to generate data-driven hypotheses for designing novel immunotherapies for cancer treatment. This project involves analyzing cellular maps derived from multiplex immunofluorescence (MxIF) technology, which provides high-resolution images of tumor microenvironments. By identifying spatial features and associations that are relevant for predicting treatment outcomes, I aim to contribute to the advancement of personalized medicine and precision oncology. I am also interested in applying spatial data science techniques to address challenges in agriculture. In collaboration with the Turfgrass Science team at UMN, I am working on novel methods to identify seed mixtures that are resilient to harsh winter conditions, using high-resolution hyperspectral images and point pattern data of turfgrass. This work is essential for ensuring the sustainability of green spaces and landscapes in the face of ongoing climate change. Through my research and teaching experience, I have gained strong skills in analytics, oral communication, and presentations. I enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and sharing my findings with diverse audiences. My goal is to pursue a career that leverages spatial data science to solve real-world problems and create positive impacts.
