About Majid Mohajerani

How does the brain turn sensory input into movement? How does it decide what's worth remembering — and hold onto it for decades? These are the questions that drive my lab.I lead the Neurodynamics and Behavior Engineering Lab at the Douglas Research Center, McGill University, where we study neural dynamics at the intersection of neuroscience, AI, and neuroengineering. My team combines widefield optical imaging, electrophysiology, and behavior with deep learning and computer vision tools to map how brain regions communicate — and how those conversations give rise to memory consolidation and motor control.Recent work has pushed us toward building the hardware and software systems that make this research possible: custom embedded devices for behavioral monitoring, RF-based tracking, and AI-driven analysis pipelines. This engineering side led to our Affiliate Faculty role at Mila — Quebec AI Institute, where I bring neuroscience problems to the AI community, and AI tools back to the lab.I'm always interested in connecting with researchers, engineers, and clinicians working on brain-machine interfaces, neuroimaging, AI for science, or computational neuroscience.
