About Makana Garrigan

I am a dedicated individual who prides myself on bettering myself in order to benefit those around me. I find the process of building relationships and forming a healthy culture amongst individuals to be a strength of mine. Who I am today is result of my life experiences and the amazing role models and mentors I have met along the way. Recruited to play college football at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2011, my career was cut short due to a career ending injury before my freshman year. I joined the staff at UNR as a Student Assistant Coach (‘12-‘15). After graduating with my Bachelors Degree, I was offered the Graduate Assistant position and remain on staff at UNR. After 1 season (‘15) as a GA, I was offered a job at the University of Hawai’i, Manoa in the same capacity. I spent 3 years at UH as a GA for 2 years (‘16-‘17) and a Quality Control Analyst for 1 year (‘18). Following the ‘18 season I was offered a job as a position coach at the University of Maine, Orono where I coached the Running Backs for 2 seasons (‘19-‘20). After some staff movement I was offered the job at the Corners Coach for the ‘21 season. Following the ‘21 season I made the decision to take a step back from the college coaching profession. Since leaving the college coaching profession, I have taken the time to pursue studies in mental health and considering going back to school. In the mean time, I joined the National Academy of Athletics (NAofA) team as a Design & Marketing Manager before accepting a coaching position in Brisbane, QLD to coach a club football team.
