About Makayla Firestone

As a recent recipient of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Certificate of Clinical Competency I strive to facilitate each client's journey toward a better quality of life by providing excellent evidence-based evaluation and treatment to address a range of communication disorders. During my graduate education at Bowling Green State University, I received the opportunity to work toward this goal by providing early intervention, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) evaluation and treatment, DaZy Aphasia Centre group facilitation, Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT), community outreach and education, and more. As a clinical fellow, I was additionally privileged to receive the opportunity to work with many students from diverse backgrounds to improve the educational experiences provided to special education students in Columbus, Ohio charter schools. I have been incredibly fortunate to work with amazing colleagues who have encouraged my growth and assisted me in developing further career interests in areas such as fluency, augmentative-alternative communication (AAC), and special education coordination. Looking forward, I continue to remain passionate about providing outstanding diagnostic and treatment services to students of a range of ages and educational needs. I am eager to discover additional opportunities and learning experiences within the field of speech-language pathology while facilitating educational success with each student along the way!
