About Makeisha Kees

I currently work for the Brookhaven School District in the Office of Special Services as the Case Manager. I specialize in assisting children and parents of children with learning disabilities and students being tested for possible learning disabilities. I assess and conduct social intakes with families to learn more about their demographics and ways to assist their needs. I am also a part of a Multi Disciplinary team that determines the educational needs of disabled students to ensure they receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). I also work as a PRN Social Worker for King's Daughter's Medical Center. I serve as a patient advocate for patients of all ages. I coordinate discharge planning and services, assist in handling ethical issues by providing patients and families with information and support and report to local and state authorities suspicions of abuse and/or neglect. I have a Bachelors degree from Tuskegee University in English. Having a background in English allows to me implement my writing skills when developing summaries and assessments for families and children. Proud active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
