About Mala Sinha

Mala Sinha is IBDP faculty for Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies. A public education person at heart and by training, she, paradoxically, finds expression for her pedagogical skills in classrooms offering international curricula. Having started her teaching career in a California high school, followed by teaching IB DP and Cambridge International curriculum, she is well familiar with all three major international curricula offered at international schools worldwide. While working tirelessly to help her students succeed academically, she is equally passionate about teaching science with the larger purpose of preparing a science literate citizenry. She deeply believes that science literacy can help lay a strong foundation for a socially just society to flourish. Her belief is well integrated in her trans-disciplinary approach to teaching. She is a science educator who understands the social dynamics of education well. She earned her teaching credentials from the CTCC (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) after doing the required coursework at the San Francisco State University. Teaching credential program at SFSU is an intensive 36 unit program spread over two semesters with concentration on 'Equity and Social Justice in Education'. It comprises of graduate (Masters) level courses as well as practical experience in school teaching followed by the rigorous process of assessment - Performance Assessment for California Teachers (PACT) which she completed successfully to earn her credentials.
