About Malachi Hernandez

Malachi serves as a Real Estate Development Project Manager at the Boston Housing Authority (BHA), a public housing agency in Boston that provides quality affordable housing for low-income families. He is responsible for managing BHA's redevelopment projects which encompasses planning, organizing, and directing the completion of projects to ensure they are completed on time, on budget, and within scope in order to enhance portfolio growth. His career began working at The City School, a nonprofit that develops and strengthens youth to become effective leaders for social justice. Soon after, Malachi worked for the City of Boston where he connected youth to opportunities of employment and aided small businesses in obtaining permits and COVID-relief grants. Malachi was also employed at the Massachusetts State Senate in the Office of Senator Nick Collins where he assisted the team in policy development while also acting as the Community Liaison at weekly neighborhood association meetings. He would provide legislative updates, foster relationships with constituents, and engage with real estate developers whose project proposals were under review within the First Suffolk District. In 2018, Malachi provided civil legal assistance to incarcerated people within Massachusetts prisons by advocating for their medical needs, lobbying, and conducting interviews for potential litigation, at Prisoner's Legal Services. As a passionate and motivated project manager, public speaker, and community leader, Malachi is dedicated to advancing economic equity by uplifting small businesses, encouraging working families to invest as a means towards financial freedom, and collaborating with the next generation of young leaders. Malachi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication Studies from Northeastern University. Additionally, he helps nonprofit organizations fundraise for efforts related to youth development and serves on the Advisory Board to the Obama Foundation's My Brother's Keeper Alliance.
