About Malanda Murchison

With over 20 years of experience in mathematics education, I am passionate about teaching and learning, and committed to fostering academic excellence and personal growth in my students. I have a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Kennesaw State University, and I have expertise in teaching honors, on-level, and remedial courses in Algebra, Geometry, and Precalculus. In addition to my proficiency in advanced mathematics, I have a demonstrated track record of success in supporting students who struggle with math or who have learning differences. I utilize differentiated teaching techniques tailored to individual needs, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed in mathematics. Currently, I am a faculty member at The Walker School, a prestigious and diverse independent school that values innovation, collaboration, and community. Here, I create engaging and rigorous lessons that challenge and support my students. I also identify and address the needs of students who are taking honors-level courses for the first time, and prepare them for the high expectations of the AP-level courses. Furthermore, I co-sponsor the High School Math Team, where I help students develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Some of the skills I use and demonstrate in my role are mathematics education, communication, multi-tasking, and handling high-volume workloads.
