About Malay Singh

I am an applied physicist by training. I discovered my passion for research while working on a “killer app” for near-term quantum processors based on superconducting qubits during my Master’s at TU Delft. Driven by a desire to see the technological impact of my work, I briefly switched gears to the classical world and joined ASML as a Design Engineer, where I focused on the metrology of semiconductor wafers. Realizing that deeper training in scientific research would further sharpen my problem-solving abilities, I began a Ph.D. in experimental quantum computing with superconducting qubits at TU Munich. My work has involved setting up experimental stations, developing software to control quantum computers, characterizing quantum hardware (superconducting qubit chips), and perfecting control operations. These efforts support the implementation of a time dynamics algorithm on a near-term quantum processor prototype—the central goal of my Ph.D. My doctoral research has been generously supported by a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship.
