About Malcolm Burgess

40 plus years experience in the Pharmaceutical industry starting in basic research (for 12 years) and then moving to the development side of the equation. My 30 plus years in clinical drug development have encompassed Biometrics, Data Management, IT, major reengineering projects, EDC design/implementation and establishing BPO's in India. In addition to my time as COO at ICON I have extensive experience of working in India and the Far East (especially China and Japan). I spent a couple of years located in our Hong Kong office specifically to focus on partner/acquisition opportunities in AsiaPac - during which time ICON acquired and integrated a major Chinese company (Beijing Wits) under my leadership. In 2013 I returned to the USA and worked on ICON's technology platform (ICONIK - see video link) before taking over responsibility for ICON's IVR/IWR services. ICON's Medical Imaging Group was added to my portfolio of responsibilities in 2016.The 15 years in the CRO Industry have been re-energizing to say the least. Supporting multiple clients globally while developing some of the most fascinating and novel therapeutic agents (including a significant TCM) to combat diseases with no currently available effective treatments - it doesn't get much better than that!I retired from ICON in March 2017 and am happy helping the industry, the community and various charities as best I can. I’ve served on various local government boards with particular focus on health (behavioral and physical) with a particularly strong interest in countering bullying. I recently moved out of Bucks County but have continued my involvement with The Peace Center as an executive board member. Once again with a particular emphasis on combating bullying wherever it occurs. I am also a member of the Pennsylvania Mental Health Consumer’s Association board (PMHCA)
