About Malcolm Choat

I am an accomplished psychologist and psychotherapist with expertise in supporting clients through evidence-based interventions, with a particular focus on the therapeutic alliance. My practice combines warmth, insight, and analytical depth, helping people navigate challenges, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives. In addition to my clinical practice, I am an experienced clinical supervisor and researcher. My PhD explored the therapeutic alliance, deepening understanding of the factors that foster effective therapy and professional growth. Before qualifying as a psychologist, I practised as a lawyer and mediator for almost 25 years, including practising as a barrister for 17 years. This background refined my ability to analyse complex situations, communicate with clarity, and manage sensitive issues — skills I now bring to my therapeutic and supervisory work.
