Background
About Malcolm Clark
Almost 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical supply chain management, including senior line management responsibility for public sector supply chains in Africa; supply chain assessments; and project development and management. I have served on advisory panels for global initiatives such as the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Stop TB Global Drug Facility. From 1987 to date, wide ranging and continuous experience in developing countries in a variety of roles including short and long-term adviser, consultant, line management, and project management, almost exclusively in drug and commodity management in the public health sector. I have also extensive experience of working in the African pharmaceutical retail sector most notably through leading the MSH accreditation programme with drug shops in Tanzania from 2001-2005. This programme has since grown to shops in Tanzania and has expanded to other African and Asian countries, including Uganda, Zambia, and Bangladesh experience includes Afghanistan, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, Ethiopia, India, Zimbabwe, Philippines, Mongolia, Nepal, Albania, Yemen, East Timor, Indonesia, South Korea, the Solomon Islands and Tonga. Long term positions include three years as an advisor in the Ministry of Health in Mozambique (1990-93), two and a half years as a Director of Tanzania’s Medical Stores Department (1997-99) and two years as Country Director for JSI’s USAID DELIVER project in Malawi (2011-13). In 2003 I was selected to be a cross-cutting member of the GFATM Technical Review Panel and served for Rounds 3, 4, 5, and 7.Over time I have developed a particular interest in, and understanding of, how public and NGO-supply systems can engage with, and learn from, private sector supply chains.
