About Malcolm Cook

I’ve been passionate about biomedical technology and methodology ever since learning the intricacies for my own ACL reconstruction surgeries in High School. Having experienced the benefit of minimally invasive surgery first-hand I have strived towards my degree in order to continue to improve and innovate technology to help others as I was helped. I’ve been recognized by supervisors, teammates, and professors for my work ethic, willingness to give my all, and tenacity for learning and perfecting new skills. With each opportunity to apply my engineering skills, my design and understanding of engineering applications grew. With each failure and success my skillset diversified and ultimately led to my part in helping my senior design team to win the CSU Venture Fund Business Showcase and place second in the Department of Mechanical Engineering senior design showcase. My initiative and commitment have led me to continue currently working on the project to secure the non-provisional patent for the device we created. I’ve had opportunities to work and learn in many adjacent fields, from my interactions with a veterinarian discussing improvements to her equipment and surgical tools while I worked as her assistant, to discussions with professional engineers about design methodology and application that I was able to implement in the robotics competition put on by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) at CSU, my mechatronics search and rescue drone project, and my senior design aquatic wheelchair project, but I truly desire to apply my engineering skills to biological situations, the very same that spurred me into this field. I am a semi-active member of the Boy Scouts of America, serving the community and working toward the rank of Eagle Scout, following the Scout Law of being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
