The residential blocks are arranged around the perimeter of the site with a raised podium courtyard deck in the centre with car parking beneath. The podium deck is the central amenity space with high quality landscape design, including active streams supplying a small lake. A major part of the Client brief is to maximise the number of tenants remaining in-situ during construction work. To help achieve this I designed the two storey vertical extension utilising steel and lightweight concreteconstruction. This, together with back analysis of the existing structure has resulted in no new foundations nor strengthening works having to be carried out to the existing foundations.14-18 St Stephens Street, Norwich£3.5m extension of an existing two storey retail unit into a four storey retail unit. Extension was carried out with half of the ground floor remaining in use throughout the constructionphase necessitating an 11m cantilever to hang the upper floors over the existing occupied half of the site.
