Malcolm began his banking career in 1987 with Central Bank & Trust in Monroe, LA. as a part-time teller while enrolled at The University of Louisiana at Monroe (“ULM”). In 1989 he accepted an Assistant Branch Manager position with Union National Bank in Little Rock, AR. In 1993 he became a National Bank Examiner with the OCC. After spending 5 years with the OCC, Malcolm accepted a Senior Loan Review Officer position with BBVA Compass Bank (now PNC) in Birmingham, AL. During his tenure with BBVA, Malcolm served as VP/Sr Loan Review Officer, VP/Business Development Officer-Asset Based Lending and VP/Relationship Manager-Corporate Banking. Malcolm served as SVP/Sr Relationship Manager with Vectra Bank/Zions Bancorp from 2006 - 2015. Malcolm served as SVP/Sr Relationship Manager with UMB Bank from 2015 - 2022. Malcolm assumed his current role with Wintrust Bank in 2022. Malcolm serves as Managing Director for Wintrust Commercial Banking for the Denver, CO market. In that role, he will continue to work with private equity firms, operating companies (including contractors, service providers and health care providers) with revenues in excess of $10 million and not-for-profits with contributions in excess of $1 million. In addition, Malcolm will grow and manage a Denver-based commercial banking team. Malcolm serves as Chair of the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC). In his role as Chair, Malcolm drafted new goals, directives and programs for the CBCC. As a result, the CBCC experienced a strong rebound in membership. Total revenue more than doubled over this 6-yr period. Malcolm spearheaded the CBCC’s partnership with DU's Daniels College of Business in drafting an Entrepreneurship Program for CBCC Member Certification under DU’s Entrepreneurship Minor. Malcolm maintains strong working relationships with Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and City Counsel, The City & County of Denver’s Office of Economic Development, Denver International Airport’s Commerce Hub and DEN Real Estate Office. Malcolm also serves as Chair of Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN). Since joining the Board in 2013 as Treasurer, RMIAN has experienced a 300% increase in revenue and is currently viewed as one of the premier nonprofit immigrant rights advocacy organizations in the Rocky Mountain Region. Malcolm graduated cum laude from ULM with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Commercial Banking and a minor in Economics.
