After graduating from the Ontario College of Art (Ontario, Canada) in 1987 I worked as a freelance designer and illustrator in Toronto. From 1993 to 2007 my work took me into design consultancy, serving the high-technology sector in 'Silicon Valley North'(Ottawa/Nepean, Canada). A growing interest in scenario-based design and storyboards led to an MA (distinction) at the University of Sunderland, UK (2008), and a PhD at Northumbria University (2019).
