About Malcolm Keene

Highly experienced English Language Teacher, originally from London in the UK, who specialises in teaching Academic English and IELTS, both in class (face-to-face) and online. Qualifications: Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults from the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations; a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in English and a Master of Arts in TESOL from the University of London. I lived and taught for seventeen years in Tokyo, mostly in high-schools and tertiary education. This was followed by more than ten years teaching in Auckland, which has included: more than 5 years as a Tutor in Linguistics at Massey University in Albany; employment as a part-time (sometimes full-time) Lecturer at AUT International House (around 10 years) teaching General English and IELTS; and employment at a PTE planning, teaching, and assessment of three 16-week NCEL5 courses – preparing students for Post-graduate study in NZ. As a result of the extensive experience above, I am not only able to create a wide-range of courses and materials, but I am also able to build good rapport with students of different cultural backgrounds, both online and in the classroom, while at the same maintaining the rigour needed for them to progress and achieve.
