About Malcolm Stoddart

I am a fourth-year business student studying at the University of Victoria. Alongside school, I am a music producer, an outdoor enthusiast, and a passionate advocate for sustainability. I have experience in music production, music mixing and mastering, sustainability, management, marketing, customer relations, and several other disciplines. I enjoy challenges, thrive in team settings, and am always motivated to learn and pursue new ventures in both my career path and personal life.My music background:I have been producing music for about seven years now, and have helped produce numerous projects during that time. I produce a vast range of genres (from hip-hop, to alt rock, to hyper pop), and am eager to find singers, song writers, and other musicians to collaborate with. My main areas of expertise in the studio include: digital production, live or studio recording, guitar, piano, drums, and bass. Some accomplishments thus far include: recorded a single with Garth Richardson, helped create and release over 5 full length LP's (all of which are on the major streaming platforms), performed several live shows, and won various music competitions and awards.My sustainability background:As an outdoor enthusiast, it is only natural for me to deeply care about the state of our environment. I have personally witnessed the rapid disappearance of glaciers in the coastal mountains, watched local forests be levelled, experienced the raging forest fires, and much more. This is why sustainability is both a passion and a central value of mine. Unfortunately, the current efforts to remedy climate charge are tepid and insufficient. I aspire to find a career some day that helps contribute to these mitigation efforts, but beyond my job aspirations, I regularly make an effort to contribute through other avenues as well. During my time as a student at UVic, I have joined environmental clubs, rallied at protests, read dozens of books on the topic, volunteered for environmental research programs, and participated in sustainability proposal competitions. Although my efforts make little to no direct impact, I have gained a great deal of experience and knowledge in the subject and hope to transfer those skills to a career in the future.
