About Malia Boksanski

I’m a passionate environmental professional committed to building more resilient, equitable, and sustainable communities—especially through transportation equity, water resource management, and food justice. As a Sustainable Transportation Associate and Sustainability Service Corps Fellow at Commute.org, I support and coordinate equity-driven commuter programs that reduce vehicle miles traveled and promote multimodal, low-carbon transportation across San Mateo County. I support the Community Partner Grant Program, manage the Caltrain Pass Forward Program, and organize events, workshops, and outreach campaigns to expand access to sustainable transportation—particularly among our equity target groups. With a foundation in transportation demand management (TDM), public outreach, and program coordination, I help design and implement incentive-based and community-centered strategies that make sustainable commuting more accessible and engaging for people throughout the region. I earned my B.S. in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies from the University of San Francisco, where I led food recovery initiatives, conducted water quality research, and supported environmental justice education. I currently serve as a Council Member on the Hawaiʻi Youth Transportation Council, advising the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation on climate adaptation and sustainability strategies. While my background spans environmental science, food recovery, and sustainable transportation, a consistent thread in my work is a deep commitment to justice, accessibility, and community empowerment.
