About Malik Harrison

I am a highly motivated, innovative and hugely talented lead facilitator at ConnectFutures supporting young people across the UK. My 10 year specialisms lie in speaking about extremism, vulnerabilities, grooming, racial diversity, conspiracies and fake news. I am determined to help and inspire those often caught up in cycles of choices to enable them to find and make constructive choices informed by critical thinking. My backstory I started my journey as a member of the well established UK Hip-Hop Group MD7 from Birmingham, England that reached critical acclaim in 2002 with the release of our first landmark album and achieving critical urban music awards etc. In 2005 I started a solo career where I recorded and toured with the likes of Jay-Z, Mark Ronson, Wiley, Professor Green and others. I also starred in a Channel 4 film called “1-day”, Radio 1’s Fire In The Booth and Channel 4’s Random Acts Plus. I was recently invited as an artist/speaker representing UK culture at A3C festival in Atlanta, USA as well as SXSW festival in Texas, USA and the New School Rules festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands. With my passion and desire to ensure young people’s voices were heard, I decided to transfer my skills of communication via music to direct work with young people in music education, expression and therapy leading me to work with young offenders across the Midlands sparking my current journey.
