2023 CEO Award for Excellence I want to help people and make a positive impact in their lives. I challenge myself to provide care that is of the highest quality and compassion. Being in a leadership role, I use my compassion as well as strong leadership abilities to support nursing staff. The stronger the staff, the happier the team, resulting in high quality care provided to patients. In my current role, I provide leadership to the Kansas City Hospice House in many functions: Responsible for coordination and assuring a high standard of care consistent with each profession on an interdisciplinary team. Facilitate communications and work effectively between facility staff, patients/families/caregivers/physicians/vendors and other departments and professionals. Actively assist nursing staff in the provision of direct patient care and ensure appropriate staffing to meet the needs of patients and families. Monitor documentation and implementation of the physical & psychosocial interventions for the patient/family/caregiver. Ensure implementation of and compliance with all policies and procedures, licensing and certification regulations. Collaborate with the Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs to ensure licensing and Medicare certification, including all rules and regulations. Collatorates with IT to ensure compliance with Health Information Management and make suggestions for efficiency and improvements. Supervises facility staff and completes employee evaluations. Works with staff to ensure appropriate levels of care and supportive documentation. Facilitates patient care and quality management activities by assuring staff participation and facility representation on focus groups; follows up on surveys and grievances; performs medical record and utilizations review audits. Actively participates in Quality Management, Utilization Review, and Risk Management activities. Actively participates in staff meetings, department meetings, morning report, in-services, and other related activities. Presents to Director of Hospice Services and the Chief Operating Office for improved efficiency and effectiveness of care and services. Provides leadership and education to staff through in-services, case conferences and group discussions on Hospice philosophy, operations, policy and procedures, and problem solving. Assist with oversight and ordering of medications, supplies and durable medical equipment. Represents the facility to all internal and external customers with integrity, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
