About Mana Monfared
As an optometrist with over a decade of clinical experience, I’m now building on that foundation as a PhD candidate in Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. My research zeroes in on ocular surface conditions-particularly dry eye disease-which has long been a central focus of both my clinical and academic work. At Waterloo, I combine hands-on clinical insight with research innovation, working closely with leading experts to explore new ways of diagnosing and managing tear film instability. Alongside my research, I’m also involved in teaching, mentoring, and collaborative projects that aim to move the field forward. For me, connecting with peers and sharing ideas is just as important as the science itself.
