Manase is a Matāpule (Talking Chief or Herald) for his village of Vaini in the Kingdom of Tonga and a Pacific Community Leader here in Aotearoa. He was officially installed with the title Pakilau ‘o Aotearoa by Lord Ma’afu of the Kingdom of Tonga in 2017, after completing his full body traditional tattoo or ta tatau (lagi malofie) the year before. Manase is the Pacific Equity Lead for the Wise Group, and leads the sustainability work and implementation of Te Toitūtanga strategy for the group. He has previously overseen and managed diversity and inclusion programme Kanorau, and managed the Disability Workforce Development programme for Te Pou, a Wise Group entity.
