In 2010 Mr. Vaidya shifted from full-time humanitarian work to embark on a natural farming venture on barren land in a drought-prone region with limited water resources. His goal was to restore living soils and cultivate edible gardens. Today the farm supports over 12 species of wild trees numerous shrubs and native grasses fostering biodiversity that includes insects birds reptiles and small mammals. It also produces more than 30 types of local crops including eight varieties of leafy greens yams six indigenous lentil varieties and fruit-bearing plants such as Desi Banana Papaya Mango Ber Indian Blackberry and Guava. The COVID-19 pandemic became a transformative learning experience for him his family and friends inspiring the idea of converting the farm into a green space focused on promoting healthy food and well-being now known as Samyak Green.
