About Mandy Kilsby

I am passionate about the preservation of cultural heritage through organization, documentation, and facilitating access to information. I have over a decade of experience conducting academic and historic research and writing in the fields of national, provincial and local history, historical and contemporary gold mining, gendered history, and genealogy. I am knowledgeable about museum standards for care, handling, storage and cleaning of a variety of types of historical objects including early photography, textiles, industrial artifacts, heritage buildings, and archaeological artifacts. Currently I am focused on facilitating dialogue and improving policy around truth, reconciliation, and the challenges faced by colonial historic sites. With the collections and Barkerville Historic Town my key area of focus is the management of the collection through our collections database and other data management systems. Specialties: Management of collections, library and archival organization systems, and facilitating public access to the museum's artifact and archival collections. Research, writing, editing, and analyzing of historical findings. Artifact handling, including cataloguing and photographing over museum objects and digitization of historical records. Ensuring compliance with government regulations and maintaining museum standards under extreme conditions. Cultural landscape management.
