Joined the Indian Institute of Petroleum, in December 1978 as Engineer “B” and worked in the research and development in the area of TRIBOLOGY. Superannuated on July 31, 2011 as "Chief Scientist" and Head, Tribology Division of the institute. Primarily, my research work has been both on basic as well as applied aspects in the area of Tribology. Research areas: EHL -micro EHL, Surface topography and influence in lubrication phenomena, Mechanisms of friction,wear and lubrication, scuffing) failure phenomena, running-in phenomena, simulation of the contact conditions of machine elements and Lubricating product development. Undertook and completed a number of projects on various aspects of Tribology, internally funded, sponsored and in collaboration with academic institutions like, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, IITs, major oil companies and technical support to many smaller companies. Teaching: Teaching at IIP, Dehradun has been in the Training Programs of the institute for Scientists and Engineers from Industry as well as newly recruited scientists of the institute. These courses were designed as separate modules as per the requirement of the industry and were generally of PG level. Main subjects of teaching: Basic theories of friction, wear and lubrication, Application of lubrication theories, particularly, the Hydrodynamic and Elasto-hydrodynamic, in lubrication and design of machine elements, Lubricants evaluation methods, Cutting oils, Recent trends in Tribology. Academic Experience : Roorkee Institute of Technology, Roorkee: As Professor and Director was responsible for administration and management all academic and other related activities. Graphic Era University: As Professor, Director Engg /Vice-Chancellor - Management and administration of Higher Technical Education and all other related academic activities of teaching and research.
