About Manisha Dohade

My self, Manisha Dohade have completed my Ph.D from CSIR- National Chemical Laboratory, India under the supervision of Dr. P. L. Dhepe. The broad area of my research is catalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into value-added chemicals. In particular, during my Ph.D. I started work in the field of catalysis, where I prepared supported metal catalysts based on Pt and Co supported on carbon which were used for various applications such as hydrogenation and hydrodeoxygenation reaction. During this period, I have worked on development of catalytic hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol, sugar to sugar alcohol, Furfural to cyclopentanone, hydrodeoxygenation of furfuryl alcohol to 2-mehylfuran and 5-hydroxymethyl furfural to 2,5- dimethylfuran in batch mode process. Working on the project has thought me different skill set necessary for the current position. To establish the correlation between products & substrate, I have used various physico-chemical analytical techniques (e.g. CHNS, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, GPC, DSC, XRD, ICP-OES, ATR, NMR. I have also worked on the synthesis of polybenzimidazole (PBI) polymer and fabrication of dense and asymmetric polymeric membranes. and with carbon nanofibers (CNF) to prepare PBI/CNF, polyimide-based matrimid/CNF and polysulphone/CNF composite membranes which were used for gas separation application.
