About Manon Reesink

My professional journey began during my internships for my bachelor's degree. My first experience with medical research ignited my interest in the mechanisms of diseases and treatments. Gaining first-hand experience with a new technique at the time (biomimetic chambers for living myocardial tissue) only deepened my fascination with the possibilities in medical research. From my bachelor's program (HLO), I acquired laboratory experience with diverse techniques, including additional work with heart slices and (q)PCR from my internships. From my master's program, I gained experience in systematic reviews and some clinical research; however, it also made me realize that I want to return to the laboratory and apply what I've learned in my upcoming scientific papers. I have an international perspective, bolstered by my English language experience from my exchange in Vancouver, which I wholeheartedly recommend to every student. I am seeking a PhD opportunity—a challenge where I can utilize my lab skills in a project focused on researching and unraveling diseases. I wish to study diseases, discover their mechanisms, and observe how therapies can impact patients, families, and society.
