About Manuela S.

Member of the Québec Order of Architects, Manuela completed her professional Architectural Master’s Degree from the University of Bologna, Italy. Her final project investigated the adaptive reuse and preservation of modern architecture heritage and was awarded the gold medal in the Domus international competition for restoration and conservation. Manuela pursued her interest in adaptive reuse through several international work experiences, before graduating from the Post-Professional Degree in Modern Architecture and Heritage at the University of Québec in Montréal (UQAM). In 2023, she took part in the first edition of the International Course on Modern Heritage Conservation offered by the Getty Conservation Institute, in Los Angeles. Upon her relocation to Montréal, Manuela has worked at the Montreal Transit Corporation (STM), MSDL Architectes, and finally joined ERA Architects, a leading firm in cultural heritage conservation. Meanwhile, she has been course lecturer at the École de Design of the UQAM and serves as a board member for Docomomo Membre de l'Ordre des architectes du Québec, Manuela a obtenu sa maîtrise professionnelle en architecture à l'université de Bologne, en Italie. Son projet de fin d'études portait sur la requalification et la préservation du patrimoine moderne et a reçu la médaille d'or du concours international Domus pour la restauration et la conservation. Manuela a poursuivi son intérêt pour la requalification à travers plusieurs expériences de travail internationales, avant d'obtenir un diplôme spécialisé en architecture moderne et patrimoine à l'Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). En 2023, elle a participé à la première édition du Cours international sur la conservation du patrimoine moderne, organisé par le Getty Conservation Institute, à Los Angeles. Après s'être installée à Montréal, Manuela a travaillé à la Société de Transport de Montréal, chez MSDL Architectes, et a finalement rejoint ERA Architectes, une agence de premier plan dans le domaine de la conservation et mise en valeur du patrimoine culturel. Entre-temps, elle a été chargée de cours à l'École de design de l'UQAM et siège au conseil d'administration de Docomomo Québec.
