Background

About Mara Angelidou

Born in Athens in 1988, I am an Urban Sustainability Specialist with a bachelor in Architectural Engineering and MSc in “Environment and Development". I have expertise in the creation and management of environmental, social and humanitarian projects aimed at sustainable development in cities while dealing with waste management, the circular economy, social crises in urban centers, social innovation, active citizenship and participatory planning. I have volunteered and worked in programs in Greece, Portugal, England and Africa. Since 2016, I have coordinated the establishment and activities of ‘InCommOn’ (a Civil Non-Profit Company) which aims to engage citizens in participatory and sustainable urban development. The organization’s main pillars of work include addressing environmental degradation, social inequalities and the lack of active citizenship. I am the co-founder of the ‘FoodTreasure’ - an initiative that seeks to address the problems of overproduction of food waste in terms of environmental management, social inclusion and an equitable economy. I am inspired by the people and their partnership with the planet within the urban fabric!
