About Mara do

I've been told to use this space wisely, but the only wise thing I can think of is to remind you to drink at least half your body weight in fluid ounces of water a day. Now, back to the real reason why you're reading this - who is Mara? I want to lead with kindness and empathy while making genuine human connections. Whether that is within my workplace or outside of it. I am a problem-solver and resourceful, enjoying the pursuit of answers and disseminating them into something digestible for myself and others. I don't enjoy tearing others down in pursuit of my own success. I believe that to find success, it is far easier to lift up those around you and grow with them, rather than past them. I started my career journey thinking I wanted to do good. To 20-year-old me,"good" was black and white - law, policing, politics. Anything where change was tangible. However, I spent most of my childhood and teenage years being supported by community organizations and non-profits, and I realized that if they can do good and help someone "like me," then I can do good through them as well. This led me down an 8-10 year path of non-profit work. Amazing work - fulfilling, especially if you align with the mission. However, I found myself antsy. I wanted a challenge. I wanted to see how much work I could put into something and see how far I could go. I didn't want glass ceilings, I wanted to skydive and see the opportunities around me from a different perspective. So I tried my hand at Tech Sales, and now here I am in Custodial Partnerships. I'd like to say I'm a jack-of-all trades because I never stop trying to learn, do more, try harder and work more efficiently. If there's an opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge myself, I am always the first to raise my hand. That being said, I think this is my biggest challenge but also my biggest opportunity for growth. I buckle in and dive into projects without looking back. And right now the biggest thing I am tackling is how to be a better genuine, human working in the professional world. I look forward to sharing my wins - both my professional and personal ones - with you. I hope you will do the same.
