About Mara Smuin

Raised in rural Utah as one of six children, I developed a deep appreciation for community, resilience, and the power of meaningful connections. Whether I was hammocking in the mountains, four-wheeling on backroads, or spending quiet evenings crocheting, I’ve always valued both adventure and introspection—qualities that now shape my approach to social work. Education has been a cornerstone of my journey. I earned my Associate’s degree from Utah State University (2020) and later graduated with dual Bachelor’s degrees in History and Communication Studies in 2023, complemented by a Certificate in Conflict Management and Facilitation. Now pursuing my Master of Social Work (MSW), I am passionate about applying evidence-based interventions to support individuals, families, and communities in need. My professional experience spans school social work, mental health administration, and clinical settings, where I have developed strengths in crisis intervention, behavioral planning, therapeutic facilitation, and client advocacy. I have also honed skills in conflict resolution, public speaking, and active listening, making me an effective communicator and problem-solver. At my core, I am driven by a commitment to empowering others, fostering emotional resilience, and creating spaces for growth and healing. Whether working with students, clients, or mental health professionals, I strive to bring compassion, strategic problem-solving, and a trauma-informed approach to every interaction. Let’s connect!
