About Marc Borel

Marc Borel inherited a well curated cellar when he joined the team of Rainbow Lodge in September 2015 with more than fifteen years hospitality experience in Houston. As the opening Wine Director and Wine Buyer for a South American concept, he was the author of one of the top 100 wine lists of 2011 in the United States by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. He also received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for that very list. Marc became a Houston industry staple as the General Manager of a 30-plus year-old heritage restaurant, the General Manager and Wine Buyer of a chain of Italian restaurants, and the Corporate Operations Officer of a celebrity chef driven farm-to-table concept in Downtown Houston, before joining the Lodge team. Under Marc’s guidance, Rainbow Lodge has recently been honored with Wine Spectator Magazine’s “Best Of” Award of Excellence for two years in a row. This award recognizes restaurants whose beverage programs offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. Only 14 restaurants in Houston were awarded this great honor. A popular and affable local Sommelier, Marc has consulted on well-known local beverage programs. He travels extensively – domestically and internationally – to taste and continue learning. His experience as a restauranteur, operator and beverage professional has added exciting updates to Rainbow Lodge’s notable list, celebrating its 43rd anniversary in 2019.@marcborel
