About Marc Ebinger

Hi, I’m Marc, and I’m on a lifelong journey of constant growth — in business, in the ocean, and ultimately in life. I started my first company as a student. Later, I co-founded and led RIMASYS, a surgical simulation startup that grew from a small lab into a globally operating company. We exited with impact — transferring the company to the AO Foundation, which continues to scale our mission. Then something unexpected happened: the pace stopped. But the questions didn’t. What do you do when you no longer have skin in the game? Who are you without the next target? To explore those questions, I turned to the ocean — and began training for something with no separation between the highest excitement and the most dramatic failure: surfing some of the biggest waves on Earth. Not for the thrill. But for the clarity. I applied the same mindset, structure, and performance focus from entrepreneurship to the process of becoming a Big Wave Surfer. That journey is now becoming Surfing Unicorns, a documentary about growth beyond comfort — and about the difference between "being successful and feeling successful". Today, I invest in impact-driven startups, support founders as a sparring partner, and speak about why growth and contribution matter — as a leader, as a human, as someone who chooses movement before feeling ready.
