About Marc Gale

I have always worked in the education sector, beginning at a teacher training college and then moving to my current employment at a college of further education. Throughout my career I have successfully adapted to the ever changing dynamic of the workplace and the needs of my employer. As such I have had a wide variety of posts and roles ranging from an Audio Visual technician, Senior IT Support Technician, IT Manager, Content Developer, Systems Designer and Implementor, Software Engineer, e-Learning Administrator, Staff Trainer, through to my current role as Lecturer of maths. Although I have previously taught IT subjects, the majority of my teaching is maths based, including Functional Skills at all levels, GCSE, and some niche post-degree topics to learners on the college's Computer Game courses. With my strong IT and systems development background I have created a number of systems and tools to support myself and my peers, the most notable being an ongoing, and ever adapting, series of tracking tools to track learners through their learning journey. The tracking tools not only give vital information to the tutor on the progress of their learners but also empower the learners to take control of their learning as they can clearly see where their strengths and areas for improvement are as well as seeing where the big wins can be made with their exam preparations. I am passionate about education and ensuring that learners have the best opportunities to progress and I strive to make their learning effective, relevant, and above all, fun. To achieve this I gamify the learning when appropriate and create engaging classroom activities. The more complex activities have also included the building and development of the server, WiFi infrastructure, and responsive website to enable learners to access the activity with their mobile phones for a more engaging and personalised experience.
