I am TQ laboratory technician with 25 years experience in the petrochemical industry. Currently employed by INEOS I work in the Enterprises Compounds business division which is accredited ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for quality and environmental management. The Newton Aycliffe site is the largest PVC compounding plant in Europe capable of manufacturing 122 kte per annum. I test finished product that is then sold to businesses in the construction, cable insulation, packaging, automotive and medical industries. Skilled in spectrophotometry, the CIELAB colour space, NMR spectroscopy, UV, extrusion, Macklow Smith plastometry, specific gravity, oxygen index value, tensile, elongation and hardness testing for dry blend, rigid, flexible and medical grades of pvc which is manufactured from nineteen production lines. If products pass the required tests I then enter all of the relevant results and pass off the material so it is ready for despatch to the customer. In my current role I also carry out photometric and dip slide testing for the site water facilities including air conditioning units. I am active in the Safety, health and environmental performance and always focus on customer satisfaction, total quality and reliability. I issue permits for contractors and the maintenance team when carrying out work in the laboratory. I have been involved in continuous improvement projects on numerous occasions and possess very good analytical skills when working under pressure. I process certificates of analysis sent from external raw material providers enabling the plant to use their products in upcoming jobs. I am an excellent communicator and deal with senior management, production planning, sales and production operators. I currently use Microsoft and SAP applications on a daily basis. As well as the above competency I also studied and gained NVQ levels one and two in plant process operations. I have a friendly 'can do' attitude and always strive to overcome any challenges faced.
