About Marc Junkerman

My name is Marc “Junk” Junkerman. I spent 33 overlapping years serving as a soldier and law enforcement professional. I also have nearly two decades of operational and training experience in community mental health, public safety wellness, and support services for military veterans. My personal and professional journey were at times tumultuous. I look back realizing I was fortunate to have had consistent support and mentorship even during those times when I wasn’t wise enough to accept the offered help and advice. That allowed me to retire with my head held high, at the time of my choosing, with no regrets. I hail from a service family and I am proud to be a fourth generation US military veteran, to be married to a retired police officer, to have two daughters in the nursing field, and a son serving as an active police officer. That said, I believe service is a choice and not an obligation nor a “badge” to be displayed. It’s simply a quiet piece of a balanced life. I now live what I would regard as a “charmed life” on the MD Eastern Shore and dedicate my time and effort to practicing what I preach…living and thriving based upon who I am and want to be versus what I do or what I did. It’s not always easy but it’s not supposed to be. I do still enjoy engaging in selective and constructive service. My approach to those endeavors is based upon “stoic self-ownership ” and is anchored by three tenants: 1. Moving from awareness to action 2. Taking deliberate steps to thrive. Counting what counts.
