About Marc Milinkovic

Hi my name is Marc and I'm currently a GIS Analyst for the City of Melbourne. I've worked in a number of spatial roles in my career, including Cartographer, 3D GIS Data Officer, GIS Consultant and GIS Cartographer. I'm most passionate about 3D Visualisation and using 3D modelling to further enhance and understand projects. In these roles I was able to build on my skill set by being exposed to a number of new challenges, such as having to train a wide range of users and administrators how to use the CoMPASS mapping solution. Some key responsibilities have been to create maps on request for internal clients, as well as the creation of new datasets for council use. I am also heavily involved with the K2Vi and Terra Explorer 3D environment and the development of long term projects using 3D assets. Since entering the industry I have had extensive training with the ESRI GIS package, the Latitude/Latitude Phoenix GIS package and Auto CAD. I've also been able to further enhancing my SketchUp and Blender skills and am confident in my abilities to create models from scratch and off the plan. I have also gained a considerable amount of experience using the Architectural Rendering Software Lumion. In 2021 I started a small business centred around architectural rendering for smaller scale projects and have taken great joy in building digital houses for prospective home builders/buyers. In my time at City of Melbourne I was lucky enough to be one of the founding members of 3DGIS.com.au. This user group is used as a platform to share knowledge and assets across multiple councils and promote collaboration and open discussion. I graduated from RMIT in December 2008 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Multimedia Cartography. While at university I maintained a credit average in all of my studies and was awarded the MSIA-David Mc Innes Memorial Prize in 2009 for highest academic results in the final year of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Multimedia Cartography. My results resulted in an acceptance into an Honours year. I elected not to proceed as I saw a chance to commence a career in my chosen field.
