I’ve spent most of my career in mid-sized organizations as a hands-on manager deploying applications and building infrastructure in challenging environments with limited staff and tight budgets. These environments forced me to come up with innovative ways to deliver services more efficiently. As a result, my company received numerous awards including a national award for innovation. I’ve also worked in Fortune 500 with strict ITIL Service Management practices and huge budgets to improve service delivery. Still, some challenges were difficult to overcome. So, when a client comes to me and expresses concern with their current state of IT, I can usually relate. At IT Ally, I was working for private equity firms conducting IT assessments during the purchase transaction and noticed most of these SMBs were not investing in cybersecurity and were not entirely aware of the risks the company was accepting. Our recommendations were often the same – a need for a solid cybersecurity foundation using best practices with expert oversight and top-down sponsorship from the Boardroom. However, most SMBs don’t have the IT staff or experience and certainly can’t afford to hire a CISO. Existing offerings in the marketplace were not always a good fit. So, I worked with IT Ally to help create a custom cybersecurity solution that matches these unique circumstances. We launched Cyber AllyTM Managed Services in 2020 specifically targeting small businesses using best practice frameworks and cost-effective fractional resources with decades of experience behind them. Shortly thereafter, IT Ally launched SMB FortifyTM that includes Cyber AllyTM plus 24x7 security operations delivered by trusted partners. We quickly gained traction in the marketplace and helped IT Ally land on the Inc. list for 2022. Our clients win by knowing their critical data and operations are protected and the private equity firms are satisfied their investments are secured. Today, our clients are mid-market SMBs either family owned or backed by private equity across various industries including manufacturing, finance, and government.
