About Marc Secanell

I am currently a professor of Electrochemical Energy Technologies at Newcastle University (United Kingdom) and at University of Alberta (Canada). I have been teaching and leading a research group working on electrochemical energy systems since 2009. I received a Ph.D.(2008) and M.Sc.(2004) from the University of Victoria, Canada, and a B.Eng.(2002) from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (BarcelonaTech). My research interests are in the areas of: a) analysis and computational design of energy systems, such as PEFCs, polymer electrolyzers, flywheels and cooling towers; b) fabrication and characterization of PEFCs and electrolyzers; c) finite element analysis; and, d) multidisciplinary design optimization. My current research projects include the development of the open-source fuel cell simulation toolbox (OpenFCST - an open-source framework for analysis and design of electrochemical energy systems, and the fabrication and characterization of low loading PEFCs and electrolyzers. I have been an invited speaker at prestigious conferences such as the Electrochemical Society Meeting and the Gordon Research Conference in Fuel Cells. My research output can be found here: & hl=en
