About Marc Smith

An experienced content creator, marketer and community engagement specialist with a passion for responsible travel, community engagement and authentic brands. In my career I've launched an in-store sampling program for Western Canada's largest organic retailer, transforming it into a robust event program that merged product sampling with cause marketing raising $100k's for local charities. I then launched my own event production company specializing in small and intimate boutique events for business and not for profits. I focused on creating events that delivered results for the clients and in 2011 was a finalist in the Small Business BC Successful You awards. In June of 2012 I launched a "tourist in my city" adventure blog that exploded and eventually transformed into the successful marcmytravels.com travel blog. With over unique monthly viewers plus a growing social media presence that included Twitter, Facebook and Instragam I was a regular on morning TV. Before retiring from travel writing full time I was a member of SATW (Society of American Travel Writers) and TMAC (Travel Media Association of Canada). While at TMAC I was elected to the board fo directors and was responsible for creating and launching a national webinar program to address member needs across the country. I have picked up a wide range of skills and experiences over the years and I've forgotten none of them. I am passionate about sharing these skills and experiences and look forward to helping my next chapter be just as exciting as my previous ones.
