About Marc Somers

As an innovative and accomplished engineering leader, I drive the development of complex systems used in multimillion-dollar products for both commercial and military applications. I am known for building, developing, and leading peak-performing engineering teams while collaborating with diverse stakeholders to ensure next-generation systems meet or exceed all operational requirements and safety protocols. In my current role at Boeing, I work with representatives from the US Air Force while directing a specialized propulsion engine engineering team that manages integration, controls, testing, performance, and engine operability. I astutely administer budgets, staffing, contracts, purchase orders, negotiations, and change management for this large scale engine development program. Since 2022, I have guided engineering teams in successfully completing customer and program preliminary design reviews as well as delivering on all billing milestones. I also coached my time in lifting engineering release on-time performance and increasing first-pass quality. I was honored with inclusion in the Boeing Enterprise Leadership Next “LX” Class of 2023. Earlier at Boeing, I was selected as a Certification Propulsion Integration Manager (PIM) for Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Chaired the Fuel System Requirement Review Board, and served as Ship Captain and Propulsion Specialist for 6 flight test aircraft. I am proud to have attended Washington State University, earning Masters and Bachelors degrees in Mechanical Engineering. I also completed a Systems Engineering Certificate through MIT and am recognized as a Fuels System Requirements & Production Functional Test Subject Matter Expert through Boeing.
