About Marc Thompson

Born and raised in Southern New Jersey, I've started my working career at the age of 12. I remember going to work on the weekends with my Dad. While he worked hard in a garage fixing loyal clients' cars, I'd be out running to the gas pumps, fueling up the cars and washing their windows. Later on in high school, I got my first full time job stocking shelves at a local swimming pool store. In off times, I've learned how to repair items on a pool and how the chemicals worked, as well as water testing. As soon as I was more confident about my knowledge of the business, I was offered a position at a rival company as a floor supervisor. Not too long later the same business opened up another location and appointed me as the Manager there. Since it was only a satellite, as usual pool businesses operate, we were closed for the winter. As you can imagine not working does not pay the bills, especially while attending a full-time college schedule. From that point I found a position at a very large inventory company. When it was time to return to the pool store, they made me the "offer I couldn't refuse" to stay as a member of their management team. Years later, I've managed two other retail stores. In 2009, I gave up the retail scene in NJ and moved down to Florida to help my Mom out after my Dad had passed away. I've looked at other retail jobs while I was down here and just couldn't find myself to continue in retail. I was offered a position at Great American Senior Benefits, a division of Great American Financial Resources. I'm the happiest I've ever been starting from the ground up as an Insurance Agent. I've since then progressed as a team leader and trainer for our newer agents. I've also taken it upon myself to keep up to date with all of our 100+ companies in order to make sure I'm providing the best policies for my clients, and training the same to my fellow agents. I've finally found my calling and would not want to do anything else!
