About Marc Thompson

I began my career in the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment sector in 2011, at National Empowerment Rating Agency. I was then part of the team that created NERA Advisory Services, the advisory firm, which was established in 2013 which offered B-BBEE related services that span across all sectors of the economy. In 2017 I Co-Founded Thrive Corporate which is a Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (“B-BBEE”) consulting and advisory firm which assists the corporate sector with all aspects of B-BBEE legislation. With vast experience in analysing and assessing complex ownership structures, I specialise in determining the impact of such structures on my clients’ B-BBEE scorecards. I have conducted B-BBEE verifications for a variety of companies within South Africa, which entails assessing the company’s compliance with the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice. Due to my extensive knowledge of the various B-BBEE Charters, I have conducted assessments for businesses in all economic sectors, successfully aligning my customers’ B-BBEE strategies to their specific industries. I have also conducted numerous due diligence assessments, aiding clients to comply with Volume 5 (Economic Development Scorecard) of theRenewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme, when submitting tenders. I hold a BCom Finance and Financial Management Services (with distinction) from the University of the Free State, which I completed in 2008, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning, which I completed in 2009. I also completed the B-BBEE Management Development Programme through UNISA in 2014.
