Background
About Marcel Correa
During my second year of the pre-dentistry course, on the way to my anatomy class, I accidentally walked into the architecture studio where a group of students were working on their architectural models, drawings and perspectives, it fascinated me then and it fascinates me today. To walk into a job site during the rough framing phase, where the smell the freshly cut lumber is suspended in the air, and to evaluate the expectations created during the design development phase work to the actual spaces, always makes me reluctant to leave. My first job after school was at a large residential real estate developer where I worked as draftsman and had the pleasure to take part in a 20 person architectural team where my work was mainly to revise and modify existing architectural plans. After working as a cad technician and with a desire to expand my experience in architecture and construction, I accepted an invitation to work with fellow student and good friend, at his landscape design and build firm to work mainly on rooftop gardens and construction site landscape restoration projects. In 2005 and worked at an architecture firm working mainly in residential projects while I attended university to complement my education in the field of architecture. Soon after completing my school work I started a consultation business offering architectural design and construction document services to local real estate developers. In 2015, I was invited by a client to start a real estate development business in Denver, Colorado. This was a rewarding experience where I had the opportunity to oversee the entire development process from entitlements, land acquisition to architectural design, submittals, construction. The major takeaway from my experience in architecture and construction so far is the realization the success of a project, from the first meeting with a client to the completion of the building, depends heavily on how efficient the collaboration between all involved has been. I believe it is very difficult to achieve a high level of collaboration without accurate communication and flexibility. The more information is available to those involved, the more invested they will be in producing quality work.
