About Marcel van der Hoek

What is real estate? A commodity? A basic need? An investment opportunity? A luxury? A shaper of society? A place to store things? A work of art? The answer is probably all of these. And these aren’t separate aspects, they’re all interconnected. That multi-faceted approach to real estate is typical for the way I prefer to help my clients. Not to make it more difficult for them but to help them get the most value out of their acquisition from any angle imaginable and enjoy it to the fullest. I have spent almost all of my professional life, since early in real estate and have seen it at its best and at its worst. I like things in general to have culture, to inspire, to give me the same feeling when I, for instance, listen to my favourite music. And I prefer to work and be with people with whom I share that love for things of beauty and culture and who are able to experience things beyond the mere physical and factual. Currently, I contribute to the world of real estate are as a sales associate with RE/MAX, here on the beautiful Caribbean island of Bonaire. For many people, real estate sales seems to mainly revolve around money. If that were true (and maybe for some in our business, it is), I don’t think that’s the most sustainable way forward in our business. I am convinced that, if we take all those other aspects into account as well, we will be able to make and keep our business relevant, a positive contributor to society and for me, personally, fun and rewarding to be part of. Photography has been a lifelong passion of mine, always in pursuit of bringing out the unique qualities of people, places and homes, especially those that inspire me personally. In this way, it’s pretty much similar to how approach my work in real estate.
