About Marcela Mattiuzzo
Former advisor and chief of staff for the Office of the President at CADE, Marcela assisted in the handling of cases at the Administrative Tribunal, in the organization and structuring of interventions of authorities at national and international events, and coordinating antitrust advocacy actions, with emphasis on the development of CADE’s Compliance Guidelines and the participation in the editorial coordination for the Journal of Competition Defense. On behalf of CADE, she also served as Commissioner at the Federal Council for the Fund for the Defense of Collective Rights and representative at the National Strategy for the Fight Against Corruption and Money-Laundering. Ph.D. in Commercial law, M.A. in Public law, with a dissertation focused on debates about algorithms, discrimination and public policies, and Bachelor of Laws from the University of São Paulo (USP). She did an academic exchange program at the University of Zurich (Switzerland), with studies focused on European economic law, was a visiting researcher at Yale Law School, and a visiting fellow at the Information Society Project. Marcela teaches in several graduate programs including the MBA on IA and Big Data from ICMC-USP, the Master Program at IDP, and Insper's Executive Education. She is an affiliated scholar at the Dynamic Competition Initiative (DCI). She coordinated the Competition Law and Digital Economy Center at USP, and was a member of the Constitution, Politics and Institutions group of the same institution. She was also a fellow at the "virtual research clinic" at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG). Marcela is president of the Project for Promotion of Academic Dedication (PPDA), which offers monthly financial aid as well as orientation, so that low-income students can develop their full potential during their graduation at USP, becoming the best professionals they can be.
