About Marcela Montero

I am about making a difference in the community and am committed to supporting small business success and diversity equity and inclusion initiatives. I love connecting with people, learning about their stories and company goals, and sharing what the Indy Chamber does for the business community. Through the work we do, we promote the development of the central Indiana region, I enjoyed spending time with my husband, my two kids and our dog. I enjoy meeting people and chatting over coffee or beer. In addition, I enjoy traveling, Latin music, and dancing. I am originally from Quito. I came to the U.S. at the age of 17 and studied Hospitality Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I have over ten years of experience in different areas in the hospitality industry, primarily in customer service and operations management. I've worked at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, KY, Wyndham Grand Desert Resort in Las Vegas, NV, The I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign, IL, and at General Hotel Corporation, an Indiana local family-owned hotel management company. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced me out of this industry in 2020. In 2021, I started working at the. I am thankful that I took this new opportunity and adventure in a new field. I love the work that the Chamber does in our community. I connect with business owners and professionals and provide resources and information on business opportunities to help them grow and reach their business goals. In one year, I've been able to increase by 4 times the number of Hispanic members and increase their engagement in our organization.
