I am a seasoned Field Supervisor overseeing three teams, each with up to eight two-person crews. I manage and mentor Team Leads to achieve our company goals. I oversee comprehensive power line inspections, both distribution and transmission, from ground and aerial. Beyond that, I collaborate with our GIS department to identify pain points and seek improvements that reduce downtime and streamline data capture processes to better support our mission.When planning our day to day operation, I consider everything from weather conditions and sensitive areas that need authorization to airspace considerations and the strengths and weaknesses of the team. I take into account factors like the day of the week, the complexity of structures, the type of UAS being used, the crew's experience, the forecasted weather, and the surrounding terrain to help guide my decisions.My experience as boots on the ground over the past four years has granted me invaluable insights into the terrain, providing a unique perspective not accessible to everyone. This hands-on experience has become integral to my intuitive understanding of how various elements work in the background. It's a cumulative knowledge base that continually evolves, contributing to my ability to make informed decisions that prioritize both efficiency and safety.Simultaneously, I am an accomplished UAV Pilot with over 1500 professional flight hours and field hours, specializing in Transmission and Distribution drone inspection operations.Additionally, my role involves conducting safety flight checks, training new UAV pilots, and providing one-on-one on-the-job training, underscoring my commitment to crew proficiency and safety.My hands-on approach extends to investigating in-field UAV incidents, showcasing my dedication to continuous improvement and safety enhancement within the evolving field of drone operations.In essence, my dynamic role involves a careful interplay between strategic analysis, real-time considerations, and hands-on experience in the field.
